At this time, Chittyville School Haunted House is planning to be open on weekends in October 2021. So, we wanted to share some information as to what to expect this season as it relates to our Escape Rooms at Chittyville:

  • Customers will be required to wear masks/face coverings per Illinois State mandate when entering and exiting. Refusal to wear masks when entering our escape rooms will result in immediate removal with no refund. You will only play with the people in your group. We will not add any other people to your group.

  • All staff will wear masks/face coverings where social distancing is not possible or be separated by a barrier.

  • All staff will be screened and have their temperatures checked before entering.

  • Staff will be sanitizing the rooms on a regular basis.

  • Hand sanitizer will be located onsite.

  • Staff and visitors are asked not to come to our Escape Rooms if they are not feeling well or experiencing ANY COVID-19 symptoms or are currently awaiting testing results and/or had been been asked to self-quarantine by local health department due to contact tracing.

  • In order to lower contact between staff and visitors, we prefer and offer online bookings. In-person sales for walk-ins will only be available during the month of October on the days the haunt is open. With online bookings, you choose the date, time and Escape room that you want to play. As walk-ins, the room of your choosing may not be available without a delay. Please check with the ticket booth for availability.

This list is subject to change as necessary.

New this year – In order to limit the waiting line as much as possible, we are implementing a virtual queue line. When purchasing/picking up your ticket from the ticket booth, we will enter your group into the virtual queue. You will be notified by text when it is your turn for your group to enter. You may wait in or by your vehicle. This will enable you to continue to socially distance from other people. Our Escape Rooms require a minimum of 3 or 4 people, with a maximum of up to 12 depending on Escape Room.

We realize that some of these guidelines may cause an inconvenience, and we thank all of our customers for complying with our policies. This will help us to stay open unless State or local government tells us otherwise.

What is an escape game?
Live-action team-based game where you discover clues, solve puzzles, and accomplish tasks to escape the room/s. You will have to strategize and work together to beat the game. The puzzles require no special knowledge or skill - just logic, reasoning, and teamwork. The mystery is challenging, and you may not solve it in the given time.

How long does it last?
The maximum time you have to escape is 45 minutes for our Fieldtrip to the Museum and Beyond Detention; and 60 minutes for Pirate's Daydream.

Please plan on being here a total of 1 to 1.5 hour so we can go over rules before starting. In the event that you do not finish in that time, don't worry, we will still let you out.

Are we actually locked in?
Yes, the door is looked, but the room is monitored by the Game Master. There is also a "Last resort" key inside the room that can be used at any time. However, if you use this key, you automatically lose the game.

Do we need to make reservations?
Yes, as our games are on a set schedule. No tickets will be sold at the door. Reservations can be made from our Bookings page. Online bookings are done on a third party site. Escape Rooms at Chittyville is not responsible for their site performance.

Please  keep in  mind that you may be teamed up with other groups scheduled for the same game/time. If you want your group to be the only people in the room, you will need to book all 8 tickets for that game/time.

Do you have an age limit?

We do not have an age limit. However, children under the age of 18 will have to have at least 1 responsible adult in the room with them.

Please also read the Terms of Use.
